DO Catalunya

More than 2,000 years of viticulture in Catalonia have given rise to a wide range of traditional varieties that, together with the varieties introduced throughout history, produce wines of the highest quality. Almost 50,000 hectares of wine-growing area spread over more than 300 municipalities. In total, the DO Catalunya has 35 grape varieties authorised to make its wines. The best whites made with Chardonnay, Chenin, White Grenache, Macabeo or Xarel·lo, and the best reds, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Grenache, Pinot Noir or Syrah.

The territory that the DO Catalunya embraces is wide, as are the grape varieties grown there. There are thirty-six types that convey the essence of a land caressed by the soil with little rainfall and that are the essence of very Mediterranean wines.
