In Search of Pratdip's Diabolical Dips

The novel 'Les històries naturals' by Joan Perucho recreates the history of dips with scenarios spread over the Sierra de Llaberia. You can tour them with a circular excursion that will take you through the Duera fountain and the hermitage of Santa Marina, where there is an altarpiece with the representation of these legendary animals. At La Cuina d'en Carlos, a highly recommended restaurant where they make juicy meats and mountain dishes, they have the key to the hermitage! They will gladly open it to you if you ask them.

In less than three hours you can also walk from Pratdip to Colldejou or climb to the top of La Mola de Colldejou. This last excursion avoids doing it with children because the difficulty is a little higher. If it gets dark and you see eyes shining in the dark, run, the list of victims is not closed!

On the first weekend of November, coinciding with All Saints' Day, the Legendary Pratdip Festival is held, with a truly terrifying program of events and celebrations. Dip hunters scare away all the specimens of this demonic animal with music during their walk through the Medieval and Fantastic Market of the old town. There are parades, children's workshops and magic shows, and all accompanied by good teak that you will taste in the gastronomic corner or at the medieval lunch.

In the afternoon, the legend of the dip is usually revived with 'Teatre de por al castell'. Small performances are made with light and fire in a unique setting to get to know all the characters of reality and fiction that have surrounded this mythological monster. And if you come in disguise, you will also be part of the legend, but don't get too much into the role either... That there are neighbors who still explain misdeeds made by the dips not so long ago. Whether you believe them or not, it's up to you.
